I want to ask the parents of a little boy in my care to trim his finger nails. How do I phrase it nicely?

Because what I want to say is, ';Can you trim his nails so he doesn't scratch anybody and so that it makes hand-washing time easier?'; But it seems like a delicate thing to ask someone to parent their own kids. Advice?I want to ask the parents of a little boy in my care to trim his finger nails. How do I phrase it nicely?
It is a delicate subject, but it needs to be done. Maybe you could say ';can you trim his nails? hes been scratching other children on accident'; I wouldn't mention handwashing time, because they may take that offensively like you're calling him dirty. Another suggestion would be saying '; do you mind if I trim his fingernails so that he doesn't keep scratching the other kids on accident?'; There are always awkward moments that have to be dealt with when working with others. Good LuckI want to ask the parents of a little boy in my care to trim his finger nails. How do I phrase it nicely?
just do it urself
That sounds fine to me. It's right to the point. Go for it.
do it your self its not that big a deal i take care of other ppls children all the time and when they need things like that done i do it the parents usually are so busy working and every thing else they dont notice it!! never cut there hair though lol i never have but i do know a lady that did and it didnt go over well haha
Why don't you just buy a pair of nail trimmers and do it the next time you watch him?
';Can you trim his nails so that he doesn't scratch anyone? ';

That sounds perfect to me. I wouldn't be offended at all if someone asked me to trim my kids' nails.
My son is 4. His nails grow so fast I do it at least 2x a month or more. I have to remind myself often. You could just say ';Oh, I made a mental note to remind U ... '; when u mention it to her.

Don't lie or carry on like other people are telling you to say he might or is scratching someone else. It's obvious 'why' he needs them cut. Just let Mom know you happened to notice ... it's that time.
If he's in your care, why can't you just trim them when you have him and let them know what you did and tell them it was because he scratched you accidentely! Problem Solved!!
';oh hey.....scratched me today do you mind if i trim his nails?'; that should let them know they need to be done without stepping on the parents toes.
i have had my daycares tell me i need to trim my sons nails before....i felt bad thatg i had over looked it but i also understood y they needed to say something SO if you don't want to do it yourself just tell em as nice as u can
I have owned a day care in the past and the way I dealt with this situation is .... I would tell the parents that I was afraid _______ would scratch himself when we were waking them up from tv/nap time. It would bring attention to the parents and not make them mad. I let them think it was just to protect their child and didnt mention him scratching any other children or about washing hands. Good Luck
I'm a mom of a four year old and I don't think if you ask the parents to trim is his nails that you are telling them how to parent..maybe the don't realize that they are to long

i have a photoshoot on April 12th and the photographer is searching for a model that has naturally colored nails without wigs.

i don't put nail polish on, and i'm not even sure what ';without wigs'; means, fake nails?

anyways for the most part my nails are long and trimmed, two fingers have hard skin around the nails and one with peeling skin.

i've never been one to take care of my nails so seeing how important this is to his shoot i should take extra care for the next few weeks till the day.

my only problem is i don't know where to start D:

i will be searching on google after this, but any quick easy advice would be much appreciated, or specific things to google :D

any tips on what you do to keep your nails all pretty would be wanted to :D

How do you care for your finger when you lose the nail. It is black and will fall off soon! Help!?

I banged my finger closing a window and the nail has been black for 2 months. It looks like it will fall off soon and I have no idea what to do to cover it until it grows back. A band-aid will just get stuck right? How do you care for your finger when you lose the nail. It is black and will fall off soon! Help!?
KEEP IT CLEAN AND COVER IT WITH A BAND AIDHow do you care for your finger when you lose the nail. It is black and will fall off soon! Help!?
    Hello Sally G,

Yes, black nails are very likely to fall of (in fact: black nails are usually the result of a nail fungus). Whether your nail will grow on again depends on: is the matrix of your fingernail harmed severly as well? I think you can ask your general practioner for some advide, but it is very likely that natural will do it's work again ... resulting in a beautiful new healthy nail (but this will take at least 2 months after the nail has fallen off).

Meanwhile you can read more about this condition to get to know the natural path in this situation. I suggest the topics:

    Onychomadesis (= nails falling off):

Best whishes from The Netherlands, Martijn.
Try not to bump it.....That's the best advice....
    try to keep the nail on until it grows out past where it will hurt if you loose it. the natural nail will protect the nail bed the best. use tape or a band aid. you can cover it with a little piece of gauze if you think it will stick, or ';get stuck';
i had my big toe nail fall off a while back, if it's like mine was, i just let it fall off and the skin under it wasn't raw since i didn't rip it off. So i'd say just let it fall off on its own and it should be okay. I was back to playing soccer and snowboarding as soon as it happened, and i didn't cover it since it wasn't an open sore. The worst part is what it loooks like while you're waiting for it to grow back... :)

How to take care easy broken finger and toe nail of a 1 year old baby?

my baby always have broken nail, sometimes if we don't notice my baby already take out then it hurt herHow to take care easy broken finger and toe nail of a 1 year old baby?
Well, sometimes if you put a band-aid on it, kids think it is better. Even when my cousins were one, we put a band-aid on someone who was hurting. They'd feel better and then the other ones would want one (triplets, now 4). I don't know, because every baby is different. Sometimes you can bite them off, instead of trimming them (I've never done that, but my aunt did). There's not much you can do for a really little baby, but for maybe 18 months+ it may work. Good luck! How to take care easy broken finger and toe nail of a 1 year old baby?
Keep them cut short so they can't get long enough to break off. If you can't get baby to sit still long enough when awake, wait till asleep and then trim the nails. Babies nails should never grow long enough to break because that means they are long enough to scratch. If baby scratches him/herself it could cause an open sore that could get infected. Also it friggin hurts when they scratch you!

How do you care for a finger after the nail falls off?

my son got his finger slammed in a dorr about 2 weeks ago.

I noticed the nail was turning white and lifting so I just kept it clean .

however after my sons bath tonight I noticed it's barely hanging on....it's gonna fall off now, just a matter of time ( at the rate my son is picking at it, I'd say an hour tops lol )

is any special care required once it falls off?

I'm assuming just some neosporin and continue to keep it clean? How do you care for a finger after the nail falls off?
I believe you're doing a job now cleaning it and making sure it doesn't get infected. His nail will eventually fall off, but it'll grown back. I would recommend just keeping it bandaged up and clean- no special care necessary. How do you care for a finger after the nail falls off?
You have to stop him from picking at it so put neosporin on it and a bandaid...it will fall off on it's own and then keeping it clean will be your only issue....he has to stop picking because he can cause a serious infection...
ya you would just keep it clean and neosporin and a bandaid. *AND MAKE SURE HE DOESNT PICK AT IT!!!!!*
It wouldn't hurt to have the Doctor/Nurse/Pharmacist have a

    look.(Caution before ALRIGHT I TOLD YOU SO';s)

I think wigs are fakes. If your nails are long, just make sure you keep them neat and trimmed, and not too long. For your cuticles, get a cuticle pusher to remove the hard skin off the nail. Get a cuticle cream (Sally Hansen in a blue tube works wonders!) to help fix the peeling and get your cuticles looking great.

If you have the money and time, see a professional and get a mani.Nail and Finger Care Advice?
The best nail care product I have ever encountered is 'Dr.Hauschka Neem Nail Oil pen' It'll do wonders for dry cuticles, hard skin around the nail, and it will strenghten the nail too. Hauschka products use purely natural ingredients, no harsh chemicals.
if you want nice, clean nails do this:

cut your nails, cut them to like a square-ish shape

file the points on either side of the nail

    buff your nails

paint on 1 or 2 coats of a clear long lasting nail polish

    and use hand cream!

    tada! :)

How do I care for my finger when its nail fell off?

About a month ago, I was playing softball when i ball hit my fingernail. I went to the emergency room and they drilled a hole into it. Now, my finger nail fell off my the root, but a little corner is still hooked on. I trimmed the rest of it off. What should i do? pull the rest off, add medication, or just leave it alone? How do I care for my finger when its nail fell off?
keep it clean and don't let anything in there it will make a infection...and i would put some kind of temporary cast on it to stop all the germs getting in it. and dont try to paint your nails it will sting sooo much. so just let it be and whatever you do DONT PULL IT OFF!!!!! here is a site to help you to keep a healthy finger nail... http://www.spaindex.com/Articles/nailbuf鈥?/a>How do I care for my finger when its nail fell off?
let it be. keep it clean
Well when a nail falls off you should leave it alone. It should grow back naturally. But if it doesn't grow back in about a month you should talk to a Doctor.
My suggestion would be to leave it alone. It will fall off by itself. You could cover the nail to avoid getting the corner caught on something. until it does fall off.
